A Thousand Words
The final stills from a Fhoto Albuhm, each paired with an original poem so the photograph and the poem become a single piece.
Overview
A separate work from the Fhoto Albuhm, which presents the stills on their own without any text. No new photography is added. Made entirely in-house, with Malik directing.
The first is built from the Pretty Woman Fhoto Albuhm, with twenty original poems. Its centerpiece is the street light where she stood when she met him.
How it works
- 01Malik selects a completed Fhoto Albuhm.
- 02The writing team studies each still and its research, then writes its poem, never quoting the source's lyrics or dialogue.
- 03Malik approves each still-and-poem pair.
- 04The approved pairs are sequenced to follow the arc of the source.
- 05Released as an online gallery, an in-person gallery, prints, and a bound book.
- 06The project closes, and the next Fhoto Albuhm is selected.
